Decorating an apartment

We continue with the tour throughout different styles. There are some styles that have many points in common, even in their extreme version.

KITSCH STYLE

The term originated in art markets in Munich between 1860 and 1870. It is used, in the jargon of painters and dealers to designate cheap artwork.
The kitsch refers to a vulgar taste of the new Munich bourgeoisie.
They try to achieve the status of cultural elites by copying the most obvious characteristics of their habits.
Kitsch means the "desire of showing off".In that sense all imitations and copies would be or can be considered kitsch, the use of materials purporting to be something other than what they really are (in imitation in gold plastic, glass or wood).
The style is completely opposite to functional.

It has the following characteristic:

• Dominance of strong colors, garish.


• Adopt objects from different backgrounds, many of which are retro.


• Presence of different textures, wire, plastic, fake fur, animal print or glass.


• Curtain trimmings, cushions.


• Furniture and objects of bizarre shapes.

It is a decorative style totally in opposition to what's functional.

ROMANTIC STYLE

It is a theatrical style, bombastic, but also cozy and relaxed, with one eye towards the past and another eye towards the future.

Its main features are:

• Warm colors and pastels, beige, ivory, pink, light blue combination of flowers and stripes wallpaper.


• Organza curtains, drapes subtle, blankets silk or cotton wool.


• Jacquard velvet upholstery.


• Porcelain floral, candles, dried flowers.


• Lamps fabric, antique ornaments that blend in with other more modern.


• Environments that seem postcards.

RETRO STYLE

The retro style is the fusion of vintage and neo
Here prevails the vision of man and object in relation to the industrial process .but with a careful innovating designed.

It has the following characteristics:

• Simple and functional lines, curves and futuristic.


• optical upholstery, straight lines, circles and zigzags.


• Colors ranging from softer used in the 50s as greens and blues, to the most furious garish orange, red and black, bronze and ivory brown, typical of the 70.


• Spaces are fun and glamorous.
